2. About the exam
The RUHS Medical Officer (Medical) Direct Recruitment Exam is conducted by Rajasthan University of Health Sciences to recruit Medical Officers for the Medical, Health & Family Welfare Department, Government of Rajasthan, under the Rajasthan Medical Services Rules-1963. The 2026 cycle has been notified for 600 posts.
Role of a Medical Officer
Patient investigation, diagnosis and treatment; managing follow-up visits; maintaining accurate medical records; preventive health measures such as vaccination drives and sterilisation camps; managing allocated budgets; and coordinating between administrative and medical staff.
Eligibility
- MBBS degree from an institution recognised by the NMC.
- Foreign MBBS degree holders must hold the required conversion certificate recognised by NMC.
- Permanent registration with the Rajasthan Medical Council (RMC) is mandatory by the date of the written exam.
Selection process
Selection is purely on the basis of a written examination, followed by document verification. There is no interview.

Based on analysis of RUHS MO previous year question papers, this is the expected weightage of each subject in the 100-mark paper.
Medicine and Community Medicine together make up nearly a third of the paper — make them your first priority, followed by Pharmacology, Surgery, Paediatrics and Obstetrics & Gynaecology.

- Don't ignore Anatomy, Physiology, Ophthalmology and Microbiology — together they add a meaningful score.
- There is no negative marking, so attempt every single question.
- Revise the specific high-yield topics above rather than full textbooks — previous year trends show the same core topics repeat.
